I’m only hearing music, no narration

Aloha friend ? — we know how frustrating this can be. Don’t worry, we’ll get your tour talking again. This usually happens if there’s an issue with your phone’s audio settings or if the tour download didn’t complete properly.


Here’s what to try:

  1. Check your audio setup first:

    • Make sure your phone’s volume is turned up

    • Double-check you’re not connected to a Bluetooth speaker, headphones, or car system you don’t mean to be using

    • Close any other apps that might be using your phone’s audio or GPS

  2. Check inside the Shaka Guide app:

    • Open the app and go to Support > Give Feedback > Email so we get a diagnostic report from your phone

    • If you’re connected to Apple CarPlay or another external device, disconnect and test again

    • Go to My Stuff, tap on your tour, then try playing any of the tour numbers manually

  3. Test the audio playback:

    • If you hear narration, you’re good — just drive to the next number on your route and the app will play automatically

    • If you don’t hear narration (or the timer shows “0:00” or “-:--”):

      • Turn the tour switch OFF

      • Tap the Back button and go back to My Stuff

      • Delete the tour by swiping left and tapping the trash can

      • Redownload the tour and try again

  4. Check your tour map:

    • If you don’t see numbers or the blue route line, turn the tour switch OFF and go back to My Stuff

    • Delete the tour, redownload, then try again

  5. Last step if all else fails:

    • Delete or uninstall the Shaka Guide app completely

    • Download the latest version from the App Store or Google Play

    • Sign back in and re-download your tour
