How to check if your tour downloaded correctly

Downloaded a tour but not sure it actually worked? Here's how to double-check before you lose signal in the wild—or on the winding Road to Hana.

Step-by-Step: Check Your Tour Download

1. Open the Shaka Guide app

Launch the app and head to the My Stuff section (from the bottom menu). This is your personal library of purchased and downloaded tours.

2. Look for the Download Icon

If your tour has been successfully downloaded, you’ll see a blue checkmark or beside it. If shows a cloud with a down pointing arrow icon—it's not downloaded yet. So just tap on that download tour icon onto your device before you go.

3. No Internet? Use mobile data to download

Our Shaka Guide tours work 100% offline BUT you MUST download your tour(s) first prior to you heading out. As long as your tour is downloaded before you drive, it should play audio and narration automatically as you follow the tour route.

4. Ready to Go? Tap on Begin Tour

Go into the app, tap on My Stuff, tap on your downloaded tour and then finally tap on Begin Tour.

If You’re Not Seeing It:

  • Storage Issue? Make sure your phone has enough space.

  • Downloads stuck or not starting? Check your internet connection. We recommend WiFi for best results.
  • Still having trouble? Restart the app or your device and try again. Or, delete/uninstall the app and downlaod it again from the App Store or Play Store.

Pro Tip

Download your tours before your trip while on strong Wi-Fi. Hawaii’s internet isn’t always fast—especially in remote or scenic areas.
