Absolutely! Shaka Guide was built for off-the-grid adventures. Once you’ve downloaded your tour ahead of time, you don’t need Wi-Fi or mobile data at all. Our tours run entirely offline—just you, the road, and your storyteller in your pocket.
Here’s how to get fully offline-ready:
Steps to Go Fully Offline
1. Download the Tour in Advance
Make sure you download your tour before your trip, while you still have strong Wi-Fi or data. You can find your downloaded tours under the My Tours tab in the app.
2. Test in Airplane Mode
Once downloaded, flip your phone to Airplane Mode. Open the app and tap into your tour. If it launches and plays without internet—you’re set.
3. Keep Location Services On
Even without data, your phone’s GPS still works. Make sure your location settings are turned ON for Shaka Guide so the app can guide you as you drive.
4. Battery Check!
Offline means no charger stops along the way. Make sure your phone is fully charged or bring a power bank—especially for full-day adventures.
Quick Tips
Don’t delete the app after downloading your tour, or you’ll need to re-download everything.
If you switch phones, downloads won’t transfer—download again on the new device.
Turn off auto-updates or data-heavy apps that run in the background to save battery.
?️ Final Word
Using Shaka Guide offline is the only way to travel stress-free around Hawai‘i or any of our other destinations. So go ahead—ditch the signal, keep the magic.
